The silo is a good choice as a first building to be purchased. It takes fewer resources to build than other buildings, and allows a good stock of hay to be gathered before actually having to meet the needs of any animals. If you have silos, you can put hay into them and you'll be able to feed your animals directly from inside the barns and coops, or, if you have the deluxe upgrade for them, they'll feed them automatically for you every morning as long as there's enough hay to go around. Build the silo first in stardew valley. Your silos are all linked to your barns and coops, you can go to a hopper in either one and use it to extract hay from your silo to feed your animals.
